Mr. Hersh Shah

Hersh Shah is the CEO of the Institute of Risk Management's India Affiliate, India's Youngest Enterprise Risk Expert, Creator of the What's The Risk show on CNBCTV18 and Agenda Contributor to the World Economic Forum. He is a Chartered Accountant, IIM Bangalore alumnus and Technical Specialist in Risk Management from IRM London. He started advocating the need for 360 degree risk management at a young age of 21. He carries over 15 years of experience in audit and assurance, risk management, consulting and corporate finance including structuring of strategic alliances & partnerships.

 

He started his career with KPMG in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (Risk Advisory) services, where he worked on many enterprise risk consulting assignments across South Africa, USA, UK, China and the Middle East. He was also selected amongst the 'Top 6' of the firm as part of the Ideas for Innovation Initiative by the CEO's Office at KPMG India. Prior to setting up IRM to India, Shah set up and managed a microfinance NBFC within a financial services group where he scaled up the portfolio to over USD 15 mn leading a team of 250+ people across India across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. Hersh was also one of the 450 people to be selected in 2014 for a social entrepreneurship train journey across India which helped him decipher rural and semi-urban India.
 
He is a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of ASSOCHAM, Risk Committee of Della Leaders Club, Internal Audit Committee of Bombay Chartered Accountancy Society, Life Member of Institute of Directors (IOD) and is a frequent speaker on risk-related topics at various conferences and author for newspapers and magazines. He has also been a Jury Member of the India Risk Management Awards for CNBCTV18. Hersh has also been selected as a Mentor in Turner MIINT ESG competition to support teams from Wharton Business School, Dartmouth College and London Business School.
